Christianity was founded 2,000 years ago and was based on teachings of Jesus. Its origin is located in present-day Palestine. The 3 major branches are the Roman Catholic branch, Orthodox branch and the Protestant branch. Roman Catholics accept the teachings of the bible as well as the interpretation of those teachings by the church's hierarchy, headed by the Pope.
