Where are states distributed?

1.) Describe the differences between a state of the world and a state within the United States. 
countries are called states and they have sovereignty 
the 50 states are part of the nation or state of the united states
2.) Explain the concept of sovereignty. Describe the question of sovereignty in Korea (one state or two?), China and Taiwan (one state or two?), Senkayu/Diayou Islands (who is sovereign?), and Sahrawi Republic/Western Sahara (who is sovereign?) 
Sovereignty is independence from control of internal affairs from outside states. We think of Korea as one state but it has been separated into 2 states. Taiwan is part of China but it claims to be its own country. Some people think of them as an independent country but others think they are still part of China.

1. Discuss the topics of push and pull factors and explain the cultural, environmental, and economic reasons for migration.  2. Describe the demographic characteristics of international migrants.  1. A push factor induces people to move out of their present location. A pull factor induces people to move into a new location. Cultural reasons could be for reasons like family status or schools. Some environmental reasons for migrating are flooding or desertification. Economic reasons for migration could be moving to a developed country that has things your home country does not.  2. Gender of migrants and age of migrants. Ravenstein theorized that males were more likely to migrate long distances. In developing countries male immigrants outnumber female immigrants. Ravenstein also theorized that most long-distance migrants were young adults seeking work. The migrants who were moving long-distance were normally individuals not families with children.
