Why might ethnicities face conflicts?
Nationality is defined as identity with a group of people who share legal attachment and personal allegiance to a particular country. Ethnicity is defined as identity with a group of people who share the cultural traditions of a particular homeland or hearth. Nationality in America includes those born in the US and those who immigrated and became citizens. Ethnicity in the United States identifies groups with distinct ancestry and culture like African Americans, Mexican Americans, Chinese Americans or Polish Americans. In the United Kingdom there is a conflict between the nationalities of the citizens. Should everyone be considered British or should there be 4 different nationalities.
Nationalism is loyalty and devotion to a nationality. A centripetal force is an attitude that tends to unify people and enhance support for a state. Nationalism is an example of a centripetal force.
Ethnicities can be divided between more than one nationality. For example the Kurds in Asia. The Kurds population is split into multiple countries. The Kurds have their own language, literature, culture and dress. Since the Kurds are spread into multiple countries the country they are in is the nationality they are. Some Kurds are Turkish some are Syrian, etc.
