Research suggests that the weather does not play a huge role in the spread of the virus but our behavior and whether we are quarantined or not. Temperature and humidity did play a role in the transmission of other diseases like the flu and chickenpox but it will not play a role in Covid-19. Physical distancing may have to be practiced for another year to see positive results and to slow the spread of this disease.

The virus is still a new virus so new information is being learned everyday but the studies from MIT
show that the weather can affect the spread of the virus. The study suggests that drier climates
(climates with a higher humidity) can evaporate the germs spread by a sneeze or cough. They
conducted their research by using the absolute humidity of places which tells us how much
actual water vapor is in the air. Although research shows the spread of the virus slows down in the
warm weather of some places, it does not mean the spread will slow down everywhere when it gets
warmer.
