immediate reopening... good or bad

States should not reopen immediately. Although not everyone may agree with this statement it is best  for everyone's health and safety. Jeffery Shaman, a leading epidemiologist at Columbia University  says, "The math is unfortunately pretty simple. It's not a matter of whether infections will  increase but by how much." He is saying that the number of people who get the disease will  definitely increase but what they have to figure out is how much will they increase by. Dr. David  Relman, a professor of microbiology and immunology at the Standford University of Medicine says,  "I'm very concerned that they are making these decisions in a rushed manner, on the basis of hopes  and dreams, rather than the cold, hard reality." Dr. Relman thinks states are opening up because that is  what the people want but it is not what is right. If states reopen too quickly the number of cases of  the virus will increase and this will jeopar...

covid vaccination

A corona virus vaccine should be mandatory. Lauren Grossman says, "To achieve herd immunity,  which makes it more difficult for an infectious disease to spread through a population, 80% or more  of us need to be immune to Covid-19, either we've been infected with the virus that causes it or  we've  gotten the vaccine." This is saying that in order for groups to be safe together over 80% of  people have to be immune to this virus and if you have not had the virus already the only other  way to be immune it to get the vaccine. Grossman also says, "Requiring immunization for a broader  range of people with direct-contact jobs, like those working in restaurants and food stores,  flight attendants, hair stylists and barbers, nail salon workers, teachers, and others, would  decrease the spread of infection and the resulting hospitalizations and deaths." If people who come in  direct contact with others as their job ever...

Temperature and humidity did play a role in the transmission of other diseases like the flu and chickenpox but it will not play a role in Covid-19. Physical distancing may have to be practiced for another year to see positive results and to slow the spread of this disease. Schimelpfening, Nancy. “Warm Weather Won't Stop the Spread of COVID-19.” Healthline , Healthline Media, 15 May 2020, www.healthline.com/health-news/warm-weather-wont-stop-spread-of-coronavirus#The-bottom-line. The virus is still a new virus so new information is being learned everyday but the studies from MIT  show that the weather can affect the spread of the virus. The st...
