covid vaccination
A corona virus vaccine should be mandatory. Lauren Grossman says, "To achieve herd immunity,
which makes it more difficult for an infectious disease to spread through a population, 80% or more
of us need to be immune to Covid-19, either we've been infected with the virus that causes it or
we've gotten the vaccine." This is saying that in order for groups to be safe together over 80% of
people have to be immune to this virus and if you have not had the virus already the only other
way to be immune it to get the vaccine. Grossman also says, "Requiring immunization for a broader
range of people with direct-contact jobs, like those working in restaurants and food stores,
flight attendants, hair stylists and barbers, nail salon workers, teachers, and others, would
decrease the spread of infection and the resulting hospitalizations and deaths." If people who come in
direct contact with others as their job everyday need to be protected so they do not get the virus
and also so they do not spread it. If the vaccine for corona virus is mandatory people will be
protecting themselves and others.
A corona virus vaccine should not be mandatory. Matt Hancock says in his article, "The health
secretary said there would be such enormous demand for vaccinations that making them
mandatory would not be necessary." He believes that so many people would want the vaccine
there would be no point in forcing people to get it. In another article it says, "The 14th amendment
asserts that no state shall make or enforce any law abridging the privileges or
immunities of citizens of the United States or deprive any person of life, liberty, or property
without due process of the law." In this case a vaccine should not be mandatory. If it is against
citizens right then making the vaccine mandatory would not be a good idea.
