Why do some places face health issues?

The reason females are missing in Asia are women are choosing to abort or abandon their female babies because men are preferable in some cultures one of them being Asian.

The most common cause of maternal death in the developing world is obstetrical hemorrhage.

IMR is infant mortality rate. The global distribution of IMRs follow a pattern. The pattern is lower IMRs are found in countries with well-trained doctors and nurses, modern hospitals and and large supplies of medicine. In Africa 1 in 15 babies die in Africa before their first birthday and in Europe 1 in 250 babies die before their first birthday. 

Levels of hospital beds and physicians in developed countries of Europe are higher than North America because in Europe health care is a public service that is available at little or no cost where as in North America individuals are required to pay an average of 55% of health care. Europe is hard-pressed to maintain their current levels of public assistance.

The four stages of the epidemiologic transition are
1) Pestilence and Famine- diseases, accidents and attacks by animals or other humans were the leading cause of death
2) Receding Pandemics- less diseases that spread over a wide geographic area and affect a high proportion of the population because of improved sanitation, nutrition and medicine during the industrial revolution
3) Degenerative Diseases- decrease in death from infectious diseases and increase in chronic disorders by aging. examples of these disorders are cancer, heart attacks and cardiovascular diseases
4) Delayed Degenerative Diseases- life expectancy of older people was increased by medical advances through medicine, operations and better diets.

1. Discuss the topics of push and pull factors and explain the cultural, environmental, and economic reasons for migration.  2. Describe the demographic characteristics of international migrants.  1. A push factor induces people to move out of their present location. A pull factor induces people to move into a new location. Cultural reasons could be for reasons like family status or schools. Some environmental reasons for migrating are flooding or desertification. Economic reasons for migration could be moving to a developed country that has things your home country does not.  2. Gender of migrants and age of migrants. Ravenstein theorized that males were more likely to migrate long distances. In developing countries male immigrants outnumber female immigrants. Ravenstein also theorized that most long-distance migrants were young adults seeking work. The migrants who were moving long-distance were normally individuals not families with children.
