1. Describe the origins of Christianity. Detail the 3 major branches of the faith.
Christianity was founded 2,000 years ago and was based on teachings of Jesus. Its origin is located in present-day Palestine. The 3 major branches are the Roman Catholic branch, Orthodox branch and the Protestant branch. Roman Catholics accept the teachings of the bible as well as the interpretation of those teachings by the church's hierarchy, headed by the Pope. Orthodoxy comprises the faith and practices of a collection of churches that arose in the eastern part of the Roman Empire.
2. Describe the origins of Islam. Describe the the "Five Pillars" of the faith and detail the differences between the two major branches.
Founded 1,500 years ago and the founder was the Prophet Muhammad. The origin was Mecca which is now present-day Saudi Arabia. The "Five Pillars" is the core of Islamic belief that involves performing five acts. These acts are Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, Sawm of Ramadan, and Hajj. The 2 major branches of Islam are the Shiite and Sunni branches. The Sunni branch is the largest and is made up in Southwest Asia and North Africa. The Shiite branch is the smaller branch of the 2 and is made up in Middle Eastern countries.

Hinduism has an unknown origin. Around 2,000 years ago key texts and rituals were composed and are still used in present-day Hinduism.
