Why do boundaries cause conflicts?

1.) Define boundary and frontier. Discuss the differences between the two and identify the three types of boundaries used in the study of Human Geography.
A boundary is an invisible line marking territory. A frontier is a zone where no state has control. Physical, cultural and antecedent. If you are in a boundary you are under the control of something but no one has a control ina frontier.

2.) Ireland. Find a map that details the religious boundaries that exist in Ireland. Find another map that details the religious boundaries that exist in Northern Ireland.

4.) Describe the different types of physical boundaries that exist between states AND use examples for each .
Desert boundary is a desert that separates places Ex: Sahara Desert
Mountain boundary is a mountain that separates places Ex: Andes Mountains
Water boundary is a body of water that separates places Ex: Lake Albert

5.) Detail and explain the Law of the Sea as it relates to boundaries.
The law of the sea identifies 3 types of water boundaries: territorial waters, contiguous zone and exclusive economic zone. Territorial waters is up to 12 nautical miles from shore, a state may set laws regulating passage by ships registered in other states. Contiguous zones is between 12 and 24 nautical miles from shore, a state may enforce laws concerning pollution, taxation, customs and immigration. Exclusive economic zone is between 24 and 200 nautical miles, a state has the sole right to the fish and other marine life.

6.) Describe the five types of shape and find examples and images for each.
In a compact state the distance from the center to an boundary does not vary significantly.
An enlongated state has a long and narrow shape.
A prorupted state is an otherwise compact state with a large projecting extension.
A perforated state is a state that completely surrounds another one.
