Why do people consume different foods?
1.) Explain the differences between developed and developing countries regarding food consumption. People in developed countries tend to consume more food and from different sources than people in developing countries.
Define the BIG THREE cereal grains and characterize their consumption around the world using figure 9-6. Wheat is the principal cereal grain consumed in developed nations. Rice is the principal cereal grains in the developing regions. Maize is the leading crop in the world.
Using figures 9-7 and 9-8, explain the connection between development and diet energy consumption. Developed nations consume more calories per day than developing countries.

Define Food Security and explain why is it important to track protein consumption. Food security is physical, social and economic access at all time to safe and nutritious food sufficient to meet dietary needs and food preferences for an active healthy life. It is important to track protein consumption because protein is important for your body so you need to make sure you have sources of protein in your meals.
What does protein consumption look like when comparing the developed and the developing world? In developed countries the leading source of protein is meat products and in developing countries the leading source of protein is cereal grains.
What is your main source of protein? My main source of protein is meat products.
3.) Many meat suppliers in the United States are being forced to close during the pandemic, the most notable being the largest supplier of pork in the United States, Smithfield. The lack of meat would greatly impact my family because at least 4 of the 7 meals a week have some kind of meat in it. We also eat lots of lunch meat on our sandwiches.
